I am in the process of stripping down the 0-235 on my Colt (serial # 22-8266 ). The engine baffles are pretty torn up so I am in the process of fabricating new . The right side lower baffle is completely different from the left. The right seems to go straight back under both cylinders, but the left side has curved sections that fit close to the cooling fins. The manual pictures seem to indicate the same difference, but not enough detail to create an accurate replacement.

Any suggestions on the difference? I just need to understand before I make the parts!

Since 1960, who knows how many baffles have been on your engine. Do you have a part no. for the baffle? Univair will sell you the drawing for that part for about $20. If they have the part buy it for about $200-$250.

The baffles on the O-235 in the Clipper were as you described as well.

The clipper and the colt use the same P/N 11948. The print is available on the SWPC cd. The cost of the CD is a fraction of the cost of the part if you were to buy it from Univair for $201.48. The attached pictures are for the 290D which has the same dimensions but differing attaching point reinforcements.
