Im starting to build my rudder and I was wondering if it would be of any advantage to build it like a J3 instead of a balanced rudder. I have heard (read) that the rudder is a bit sensitive on these short wings and having never flown one, (the closest I have come is a luscombe) I was hopeing for some imput from the experts. I can do it either way.
Thanks
Gary

I'd keep it like a shortwing.
Its sensitive because the fuselage is fairly short. By that same virtue if the aircraft gets really out of line your going to want an effective rudder to get it back.

Good luck getting that approved, the only shortwing with an unbalance rudder o hell even the clipper had a balanced rudder but its evlavators were unbalanced truly its hard as hell to get anything thru on a 337 now so be wear on what you do on building that thing.... its all in the paper work.....
