fall flying '18 what have you got?
Just a couple photos... That is Denali out there. Chilitna Bluffs where Don Lee's Alaska Floats and Skis takes his students. There are a couple ponds in the middle of the sand bar and I've seen family flyouts with kids playing there as well.

Having flown on three sides of this mountain and taken the bus tour, I've never actually seen it. I have my doubts about it's existence.
Nice pictures of a beautiful plane and "some" mountain. Thanks for sharing.

Lost text for for some reason... No worries, here is a couple more of the mythical mountain.
Fish lake is in the first photo. It's about 5 south of town and the commercial operators run their float ops from there as well as many privet ones.
the second foto is the Susitna river just off of Fish lake

Only sign of Fall here is the humidity has gone up and it is 90 degrees instead of 100. We did get some rain which changed our play ground conciderably.

Fall colors are just starting to show themselves on the popple and sawtooth aspen. Some maples went early due to a lack of rain, but we're probably a good ten days out from anything near peak color.

a little bit of first day of fall flying in Northern Illinois, where the grass and trees are still green and the fields are yellow... its harvest time :-)

a couple photo shots as well...
one that would qualify for a wing-tip Wednesday posting, with a 1934 Aeronca C3 on my wing.

Whats even better, while not a short wing, I got the opportunity to take the C3 around the patch.. what a neat treat!

Re: fall flying '18 what have you got?
I would be very curious what your airspeed is the last quarter mile.
In instucting some in landings I try to get them to slow down but stabilized
at least the last 1/2 mile to the fence. My argument, is if you cross the threshold
to fast to put the wheels to the pavement when it's done flying you will be fighting
it in the flare for much longer than yours was in the video.
OK, soap box goes back under the other useless things in the hangar.
NICE Video
Re: fall flying '18 what have you got?
Thanks Andy.
I was very light, with just myself and 10-15 gallons of fuel, so I was targeting 70mph to not more than 75mph, keeping target point steady, usually carry less than 1200rpm. When I was first learning to fly the Pacer (tailwheel endorsment), we did a lot of power off abeam the number approaches, got to learn the steep approach
:-)
