Re: Conical engine mount bushings
Im replacing mine here soon so this was a good read, my bushings were also worn pretty badly, being experimental I was going to go with the homebuilt urethane bushings from spruce, seems like urethane would hold up alot better than the rubber ones, probably alot stiffer and less prone to sagging, just my inexperienced opinion though good to know there's alot of options, the first approved mounts I looked at we're the lords and Had the same reaction as johnW
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
What is the difference between the 71302 part number and the SL71302 ??
Thanks,
Dusty
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
SL is a Superior part where the other is Lycoming.

OK. Thanks Steve. The Lycoming bushings are superior though? Er.... I mean the preferred bushing :)

Re: Conical engine mount bushings
I have always used the Lycoming mounts and they seem to last. Have not used the Superior brand and I do remember people having issues with what ever Wag Aero was selling.
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
My lower pilot side bushings have been wearing quite quickly (been changing them at each annual to prevent the bolt from wearing through) for some reason. Last year I installed superior bushings thinking they may be better. To my surprise all bushings sagged leaving severely elongated holes. The lycoming bushings only sagged on the lower pilot side bushings, all other bushings looked like new. The superior bushings are much more rigid than the lycoming bushings. Just an fyi.
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
amazing, hate to tell how long ago i changed mine, and they still look good
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
When setting up a new cowling, how much compensation for sag should I compensate for in a Pacer with O-320 and Lycoming conical mount rubbers?
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
I set the crank flange in the middle of the cutout in the nose bowl. Never had an issue.
Re: Conical engine mount bushings
After time they crack become hard loser ability to absorb vibration bought a set from Univar and I'm good to go
