    So..
    i'm snoozing in bed this am and i get a phone call which wakes me up- mumble mumble. it's my partner in FUWA and he has put down at the Netook Gliding Centre. he was on his way to a fly in and show and shine at the Olds Didsbury airport, it's about a 20 minute flight from Innisfail( Cem4). he tells me that as he was enroute to Olds the aircraft started to shake- he said it acted as if the prop was out of balance. mag drop was equal, fuel flow was good. The man did a great job- he throttled back and as he was overhead Netook he put it on the ground. no damage to himself, wife or plane.

    so i jump in the car t( it's about a 45 min drive ) pick up some coffee for them and me and head to Netook. As i'm finally waking up i phone him back and ask him to turn the prop backwards and feel if there is compression. he does so as he talks to me and there is a dead spot. Aw Nuts- we probably dropped a valve. So I go rescue his wife and take her back to Innisfail( 30 min drive)pick up the tools that i thought i would need and head back. 10 min after we get there we find the problem- broken valve springs on number 3 cylinder- easy fix- so after we head back to red deer to get the needed parts and head back to Netook, we have the FUWA shipshape in about 15 min. all told about 260 km of driving( 160 miles)

    anyways I'm standing on the grass at Netook watching the airplane do a circuit; feeling rather pleased with myself and the partners wife drives in. They are headed for a BBQ. she tells me that she went over some railway tracks and "bottomed out". I take a quick look and oil is pouring out- she crushed the oil pan- so I call the AMA and follow it to a garage to get it fixed( I had the card so I had to sign for the tow). then go home.....

    If in the slipstream sometimes the antenna whips around and corrosion and loose connections can cause this problem.
    Clean everything and make certain that the antenna is well bonded with good ground etc.
    I had this as a recurring problem with an antenna mounted on the belly boot cowl.
    That was exactly the problem I had with mine, except my antenna was mounted on the upper wing root fairing .

    Do you have an intercom?
    It is possible that the audible noise in the cockpit is overriding the intercom squelch
    I know that when you go to full power on a P51 the best noise cancelling headsets are overwhelmed but that's the price you pay...
    Luckily someone else was paying the price$$$$$.
    I see you tried it W/O the intercom so we can rule that problem out.

    Back in 1976 I was flying over the Mobile Delta swamp to Mobile when I had a very rough engine and it was shaking so hard it blurred the panel.
    To make the story short I landed on I-65 ans when we got out piston rings were falling out of the exhaust pipe.
    Not a good sign.....
    Scratch one O290D.
    The exhaust valve head broke off and chopped the piston in two and from there caused more than a little damage...

    Good luck. I hope that your damage is localized to the top of the cylinder.
