Re: Bottom Cowl on a Pacer
Another daunting task that is very rewarding when done.

Re: Bottom Cowl on a Pacer
Made the first one out of oh two five 2024T3. After shaping gently.....needed hammer work...but found one crack. Then decided on 6061T6. Wasn't Real careful on the initial shaping...knew I could beat on it for a bit without creating cracks. Bent the tabs over, then hammer formed over a mandrel (bucking bar with 1/8" radius edges). I may use a 750 degree tempil stick, heat and quench the part to take out the work hardened areas..... Let's see.... Fill the bath tub with cold water..... Propane torch in the bathroom. Honey...what you don'n? Sh..it! Just melted a hole in the shower curtain......Ummm.....noth'n

Mr smooth. Glad our wives dont know each other. I was vacuum bagging composites on the kitchen table in a hotel room, all the wife did was roll her eyes.

Re: Bottom Cowl on a Pacer
I used 3003 for lower cowl and outlet in one piece. Maybe not the perfect job but works good. I redid baffles at same time using RV-6 drawings, dropped CHT by almost 100 degrees fh.

Re: Bottom Cowl on a Pacer
I just bent the tabs to form the lip around the bottom cowl. No hammering. Here are pictures of one I built.
