Re: Scale for hanger?
We have a simple luggage scale similar to this one. Easy enough as long as you don't try and weigh the wife.

Re: Scale for hanger?
Got caught on an airport with an advancing local TS. Airport had no tiedowns, no hangars, no rope and I didn’t have tiedowns in the airplane. Have never flown again without them.

As the resident worse speller on this forum, or any forum i participate in for that matter, i have to share that my copilot corrected me on the hanger hangar thing a couple days ago, you know, after 25 years or more of calling myself a Aviation Maintenance Professional. :/
I dont let it get to me though and as i never notice when anyone else misspells I don't loos any sleep over it. What i do notice is how people cant focus on the task at hand because they are caught up in the use or misuse of a semicolon or some such nonsence. Eye on the prize gentlemen.

Have been like Gilbert on any flight other than local. equipment for 2 tie downs and a spare tailwheel lives in the baggage compartment

So from my experience on the internet you are yelling using all caps. Hope the spelling police or grammar police are not around if you have a slip of the thumb, stylus or keyboard. Treat people like you are across the campfire from them or find another campfire.

Re: Scale for hanger?
Although my plane doesn’t have any cargo tie down points....I’ve always thought it a good idea to have a cargo net on board to secure the load, and also to group your items together when your weighing them....

Re: Scale for hanger?
I do some airplane camping at remote forest service airstrips in the Pacific Northwest.
I have found that carrying tie-down straps and stakes is pointless if you don't bring along a fairly stout hammer with which to pound the stakes into the ground.
For scale, I use a luggage scale and try to load my gear in backpacks, small duffle and fabric grocery bags, which have handles to make easy weighing. And a plastic laundry basket to keep smaller stuff organized.
A cargo net from the backseat's forward lower sling rail to the upper seatback sling crossbar makes me feel better about what might happen in a sudden deceleration with >200# of gear behind me.

Sometimes it is a typo. Other times it is a habitual error. Some people like to improve and will do so if they can. Others not so much. Either way, I see no point in YELLING about it.
