I was ordering 4-5 sheets of aluminum from AMI metals in Ft. Worth but found it cheaper to purchase and have shipped from Aircraft Spruce. Piper used 3003 on almost everything except the fuel tank covers that are 2024-T3. I use 2024-T3 on everything. I have built some Super Cub cowl doors from 5052 since it is a bit easier to form them.

Unpainted Murphy Moose, on anphibs? Did he buy it from 2 guys in NY and then put a show stopper paint job on it? If so I know the plane since the first piece came out of the crate.

I used 3003 on every thing but the floor, worked for Piper, worked for me. Easier to form and less likely to crack. Bought it from the lady in the coil place (Airparts I think) as they can roll it and ship UPS. The 2024 floor I bought local.

Paint might add weight but it's worth it. At OSH 2008 as I knew it. At OSH 2016 as I found it.

At any point in a project like this you can work for days and not see a lot of visible progress... I will try and highlight what was done this week..

Andy was here Monday afternoon through Wednesday... During that time we were able to get the airplane out and fired up the engine for the first time... I do have a short video of that on my FaceBook site...

All the metal that needs to be white is painted... installed the leading edge root fairing with seals glued on...

    Rear fairing on...

    Top fairings with antennas...

This was right before engine run... oil going in...

Day after we ran the engine I started installing the flap gap seals... Andy's airplane also has these over the ailerons so the went on too..

    Right rear window installed..

A dark picture of the left pilot window and post trim... flash did not help any...

    Right door forward post cover...

Andy sat in the pilot seat and installed a bunch of placards that he brought up...

    Tank covers on...

    Gap seals..

Inside of the right D window and rear front door post cover...
