Bearhawk vs Bushmaster
First, I really don't know too much about either one. Just curious what you Guys/Girls with experience flying/maintaining them thought. How do y'all think they compare? Pros - Cons, differences?

Re: Bearhawk vs Bushmaster
One uses lots of Piper/aftermarket parts,
The other has limited sources. Bearhawk seems to have a lot
of interest, just none from me.

Re: Bearhawk vs Bushmaster
We have a io540 bearhawk at our airport with an MT prop =tons of AMU's. I'm fairly confident I could bet Sunday dinner you could build a producer/bushmaster style plane for a lot less... and I don't ever miss Sunday dinner. BTW if you want a big motor hauler you could build a super Stinson with the 540 motor.

So who in the US has an STC to install a Lycoming O-540 in a 108-3 Stinson??I know of one in Canada. I was thinking about doing that when the Pacer is finished.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Bearhawk vs Bushmaster
Yeah, I've been doing pay-as-you-go. The biggest expense was the wings. VR3 kit....first one....got it cheap. Bought two engines to build one. One cracked case with 339 hours. Ni ceramic ECi cylinders. One TSIO520WB first run. Replaced bearings, pistons, rings and gaskets. Did the machine work myself. If I stick with simple electronics should be less than $40k all in.
