Default Challenger Reusable Spin On Oil Filter

Has anyone used the Challenger spin on oil filter. I see it has a magnet installed in it, is easy to disassemble, inspect and clean. Looks like retail from Aircraft Spruce is about $250 which would pay for itself in 12.5 oil changes not counting labor to cut and inspect. I just ordered one and will see how it works but was curious if anyone had any experience with them?

What's the size of it? It looks pretty small.

Isn't this just like going back to a screen mesh filter?

Pretty small but this is on Rotax that uses a filter the same size as my lawn mower.

Looks interesting - but no experience with them - for me I am neither for or against oil filters - however I am convinced based on many engines that anything that will pass the original oil screens will no harm at all to the engine.

I put an oil filter adapter on my Super Cub for ease of maintenance. Don't like pulling the screen and compromising the oil temperature bulb. I also don't like cutting and inspecting paper oil filters. My thinking is that this will be easy to remove, disassemble and inspect. I have found things going bad in a filter way before I would have in a screen so I look at it as piece of mind.

If you had time, it would be nice to see some pics when you take it apart to check and clean at your next oil change

It should be here the first of next week and I will take some pictures and will follow up when I service it the first time as well.

I can't believe you would take apart a brand new device just to take pictures and see how it works.
