    Hi,

    There are several threads around here that probably have the info you're looking for. The best way to find things here are using one of the off site search engines entered like this;

    Topic, then site:

    Drum brakes. I have a 1961 Colt. Univair doesn't seem to list the brake cylinder or any repair kit for it. I'd appreciate any lead on where to find these repair parts.

    A 1961 Colt should have disc brakes. Figure 46A in the Tri-Pacer parts manual. https://www.univair.com/content/part...book/22pm.html

    I don't know what the original brakes were supposed to be but I do have a 1961 Colt and it definitely has drum brakes with brake shoes. I've been toying with idea of taking the cylinder apart and try to match any repair parts to keep the cost down.

    Here are some photos of the brakes on my 61 Colt. The brake cylinder that pushes the shoes out is leaking. I need to find replacement cylinders or a repair kit. REN

    Hi,

    There's not really much in those that goes bad, just O rings. If you get to playing in them touch the innards with a cylinder hone and see if they clean up in there easily. If they need much more than a scuff, there may be more to look into for a fix.

    You may find what you need here.

    Hi REN,

    Did you not look at the links I put just above your post?

    Item #13, O rings, is the "rebuild kit" for the cylinders. Two per wheel.

    Sorry, didn't mean to send those photos again. Thanks for the info. I feel a little better about braking into them....forgive the pun.

    Hi again,

    There are also tow more O rings involving the brakes. They are on the fitting the goes through the backing plate. #14, and #24.

    Sorry for not even noticing your second set of pictures were just a copy of the earlier post. I'm especially aware **** happens to us all.
