This will be done with an STC.

Got the left wing squared up today. Now building the flaps by adding 36 inches to the Pacer flaps.

    It is $1000.

The owner is a 90+ year old lady who asks people to go through Colin (Fisherman on this site). Colin can send you the address where to send the check.

The plans are based on four STC's. But, you only need the STC for the extension and can skip the fuel tank and engine mods. If your plane is already a tail dragger you can skip the landing gear conversion. The owner did not keep track of the drawings so several people have copies and are generally helpful. It would be great for someone to put it all on a CD. I will post more pictures which should also help. There are no written instructions but, you are basically building a Super Cub wing with extra reinforcement. I was told you need a 56 or later PA 22.

Stephen, any idea what happens to the STC's when the lady passes on? be a shame to have it lost or not available anymore.

The holder of STC SA819SW is Audrey Simpson at 1-318-287-3515, 14739 Highway 71, Gilliam, LA 71029. The STC applies to PA 22-150, PA-22-160, PA 22S-160 only. PA 22-125 and PA 22-135 do not qualify for this STC. The price is $1000.00 for permission to use the STC. We are working on what happens to this STC in the future and are in contact with Audrey. We have been friends with Jimmy and Audrey for many years when they use to stop at our place on their way through to Alaska.

Great to hear some one is working this angle, not sure what would happen otherwise but assume it is difficult to get permission to obtain the STC after owner is gone.

If you can't find the executors for the estate or the benefactors, it would almost be impossible to use the STC. I think there are quite a few out there that are lost forever. Thats why we should try to keep as many of theses old STC's available to the public as possible. It would be very hard to get this major modification through the system today.

In a non- bureaucratic world, orphaned STC's would revert to the pubic domain so anyone could use them. At least those like this one where no parts are supplied, only drawings.

Reverting to the public domain is a lot better then no access to the STC's. I fear that some of the drawings have disappeared or been lost which might also make it difficult to use some of the STC's.
