Best replacement radio for the MK12D if all you need is Com?
My Narco MK12D went out. I never use the Nav.
Second Narco failure, and parts are scarce.
If you have replaced your radio with another trustworthy unit, please let me know what you would recommend.
Thanks all!

Options I have considered are the Valcom, KY 297, Icom. I picked up a King unit for less than $1000 from a friend.

If you never use the NAV the Garmin SL40 would work. It does not have a NAV side.

I replaced my MK-12D with an SL-30. IMHO, a very good investment of my aircraft "toy" fund!

icom 210 or 220 work very well for a reasonable price.

I had the ICOM A210 in the Tri-Pacer and really liked it. There's a 2-channel intercom built-in on it and if that's appealing, it makes it an even better value. It also has a "dual watch" feature that allows you to listen to your standby frequency and primary frequency "simultaneously but choppy". Which is great for picking up ATIS without dropping Approach. That being said, there are some com radios that have 4-place built-in.
Best regards,
Todd
