Very good point, Todd. Titanium and/or Stainless steel bolts, nuts, washers and brackets MUST be used. Carbon steel and aluminum will turn to jelly in no time, especially if they're relatively small parts relative to the mass surface of the carbon fiber.

    Rich,

Will be interesting to see how much your new spats weigh. On my Vagabond I have some fiberglass ones made many years ago and they weight 8 lb each!
I mostly fly with them removed to cut down on AUW. Makes all the difference in an A65 powered Vag when touring two up!

    Tony,

what are your Vagabond wheel-spat dimensions, i.e. length x width x height??

I have just 'Google'd G-BCVB, and it looks to have similar Spat's to a Pacer.....

As a N reg PA-16 owner also in the Uk - I would also be possibly interested in a set.

    Dean,

No problem - I am putting together the moulds at the moment; pretty time consuming as I am a little OCD - and it's important to get the 'tooling' right if you want a good end-product...... will update the post here as things progress...

    Hi Tony,

Those from my '51 Pacer are about the same length, but around 12" wide, and to the top of the foot-plate approx. 14" high.... From what I've read it's likely that the same wheel spat/pant was used on most of the PA - variants from this era (??)

    Rich,

I am told that my spats were made from a mold of Clipper spats.

Did you every get around to making the wheel spats? I ask as I have started refurbishing my own spats and after watch too much Mike Patey, am tempted to go down the CF road.
