    Default Ferguson taildragger conversion

Trying to find some information on a landing gear modification that I believe was called the Ferguson conversion. Instead of new gear attach fittings, a new gear was fabricated that just extended forward to put the tire at the proper location on the ground. I have seen two of these many years ago, but nothing lately, and a search for Ferguson brings up a quantity of wing tip leads but nothing on taildragger conversions.

Sounds like you were looking at the Blanton Conversion. He did the gear as you described. It was on a stretched pacer and mostly used an automotive engine. It was not an STC awas experimental only.

there was PA-22/20 that was up near Salt Lake City that had that kind of gear. I think it sold and moved some where in the last 2-3 years.
"Super Pacer" might have known about it and could chime in.

I few years ago I was visiting Eddie Trimmer and saw a plane similar to what you described. I believe it was still certified, too. Very strange looking though. Give him a shout...

I believe there were pictures posted here of the airplane at the Salt Lake convention. I would not want my wheels that far back. Would make the airplane more nose heavy I think.

My recollection is that the tires/wheels were in the same place as in other conversions, the gear had longer legs angled forward from the original fittings. Quite a bit. I actually liked the "look".

The pic I saw of the plane looked as described by JoeBugger above. It did look a little racy.

Google Blanton Javelin V6 Stol for some good pics of the gear. There is also a copy of the plans lurking on SWPO .

Is this it? Taken at the 2012 SWPC Convention at Ogden.
