Question for the group would this be a plane for a beginner or should I look into an already flying pacer/tripacer?

    Hi,

My bet, it would be a great choice. You would learn much getting it healthy again. If it had terminal problems you couldn't deal with, sell it, or make money parting it out.

If there are no major costly issues.

How "handy" [mechanically minded] are you?
    Do you love tinkering?
Do you have a resource nearby that is familiar with these older aircraft?

    AT a MINIMUM,
you will need a mechanic willing to issue a ferry permit. Then, you will need an annual inspection
    and it should be thorough.

You can find flying aircraft on Barnstormers for just a bit more. They may present the same
condition but will have DEMONSTRATED the flying part a little more than this.

This is a great aircraft at a great price but don't overlook the work to be done.
All of these aircraft need some attention [heck, newer aircraft need the same attention]

In any case, the time you put into paying attention to any aircraft is worth it in
    the education you receive.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined and I'm going to start A&P school next Sep, when I retire from the AF, the biggest thing i would need to find is a place to store it while doing the checks and or repairs. I really would want a PA20 but a 22 will work while I get my hours up.

Good! Sounds like you are well on your way on the learning path.
My rule of thumb is fabric airplanes should be sheltered from the elements.
Again, I would find an experienced fabric plane AP/IA to work with before I undertook this project.

I think this may be off the market. I looked it up and it was just re-registered on 12 Dec.

I have no connection to this airplane whatsoever, but I’m only 30 miles away from it.
If I can help out with it let me know.

Holy cow Jason, don't scare me like that! I know this isn't a new thread, but this is the first time I read it and had to make sure I was still alive. As it turns out I am the owner of a 1956 PA22-150 N4358A and I am not yet ready to sell it. After looking at the pictures I could quickly see the confusion, the plane in your post is N3458A. 10K is a good price for that plane and I'm sure someone will give it a good home!

    Happy New Year,
    Steve

    Sorry for the dyslexia.
