Re: What's your name?
I was named after my grandfather who
was a British Soldier who fought in the Boer
War in South Africa (1899-1902) against the
Afrikaners (Dutch)..There were two Boer
wars..the first was in (1880-1881).
My grandfather who smoked would never
take the third light off of a match..he said
while they were sitting in their trenches
passing a match along the third man
was shot between the eyes from a
Afrikaner sniper..funny thing my father
was Dutch and married a British lady.

Re: What's your name?
On this forum I go by Frank Green cause my name is Frank Green, actually Francis the 3rd. My name originates from my ancestor Francis Marion, otherwise known as the "Swampfox" of the revolutionary war. He's the one who figured out it was safer to shoot the "Red Coats" from behind a tree than to stand in a field face to face. On other forums I go by "Curliegreen". He was one of my golden retrievers, Curlie.

Because that is the name my mother and father gave me.
Like you I have no need to use anything else. No outstanding warrants, not in a witness protection program and no bad guys looking for me.

That's my new smart-ass reply when people as why Sandy when my real name is Alexander - I'm in the discount witness protection program...They only changed my first name.

Re: What's your name?
Subsonic - Because my whole work-a-day world is hypersonic earth-atmospheric re-entry systems. I spend a lot of time thinking about moving large mass objects through the air at rates most would consider to be impossible. Surface temperature-of-the-sun kind of rates. My world begins at M10. Since I'm still learning to fly an airplane and I've not dealt with anything traversing the earth atmosphere at less than Mach 7 in many years, I chose a pertinent handle for myself. Subsonic. Oh, and yes my wife is Supersonic. She's also the Boss. I'm just lucky she lets me fly. So, Subsonic I am, in this suborbital world of Shortwingpipers.
