I dislike working on American vehicles and trying to determine what is metric and what is American. At least our airplanes are all standard except the lugs on my Hawker battery. Have a crate full of those Wentworth and British Standard toold when I worked on Merlin engines and Hawker Furys.

I got a kick out students who would measure materials inchs wide by cm long. It all worked. mm, inches, cm, foot, yard, meter and so on no big deal. I often work with non mechanical people who grab one of their metric end wrenches out of their tool box to work on the Lycoming. I have to yell at them to put their communist wrench away. Some day we'll all standardize to the English system (I never could call it the imperial system). 😀
