The rib spacing on a 12 rib wing is pretty even all the way down the wing. The landing light is mounted around the outboard end of the strut attach fittings. The 13 rib wing has three ribs spaced close together around the strut fittings. The landing light is mounted out by the wing tip. That’s the quickest way to identify the difference between the two.

ON THE 12 RIB WING; Count from butt rib as #1, fuel tank bay is rib #1, 2,3 & 4 tank cover attaches to #1 & #4, or in the flap bay 6 ribs total, aileron bay has 5 ribs plus 1 shorter rib between aileron & tip

13 RIB WING: rib #1-4 Fuel tank bay with tank cover. or 5 ribs in the flap bay, 7 ribs in the aileron bay plus 1 shorter rib between aileron & tip.

Jim I am going to guess just for the fun of it. That is the 1950 Pacer with the 0-235 engine in it so it should have 12 ribs, but the landing light position indicates a 13 rib wing. It does have added droopy tips so it may have 14 or 15 ribs. I think I have it covered. What did I miss?

You are right Fred, it has 12 ribs and a non-standard landing light. Steve Pierce mentioned in another thread that the light was installed in different places when done in the field. I don't think it has any extra ribs, just the Madras tips, probably added after one of its misadventures. Notice it doesn't have narrow gear either.

A little off topic, other than one of the rudder return springs having a propensity to pop off (Williams conversion) she is a great flying old girl. They have some items on the list, such as sealed struts, but nothing major as of now.
