Default Old sectional charts now online

The Library of Congress has scanned some old sectionals and made them available for viewing/download:

    Should be a great time-waster

That is awesome. I have a collection of old charts with a 1940 Dallas/Ft. Worth framed on my office wall. Neat to see what the airspace was like back in the day.

Great fun, thanks for posting it

Snowed in and cold here in Memphis so I spent a good portion of the day on the old charts. I found there were 16 Outlying Landing Fields surrounding NAS Memphis (KNQM) during WWII so using the 1945 chart I started looking for the locations so I could view the remnants on Google Earth. Found a great one 21 miles north of me. It’s #15305 on Chart below. No cross wind landing here.

#21706 is today 2M8, a large GA airport. The short Ultralight runway on the West side of 2M8 is the original Navy runway.

    The+signs are the Outlying Fields.
