annual time
Good time for 6836B to be in the shop, our weather is not been great flying weather. My annuals are normally not to bad. but I think this year may be the most expensive yet. Two new main tires, which I wanted switched so that does not bother me, probably a new attitude indicator,I think it original 1956. The last couple of flights it has been reading about a 30 or 40 degree climb all the time. My GPS has attitude on the main screen so I have a true reading but when you are used to looking at all your instruments, its a little unnerving to catch that out of the corner of your eye when you know its wrong. Plus just got a call that the neck on left gas tank is cracked and leaks. I have no sense of smell, so I don't have a clue. I have never seen evidence of a fuel leak. So I guess it will be ok if winter snows and blows for the next week or so, cause I don't think I will get my bird back for at least a week

Re: annual time
I had a gas tank filler neck that was not sealing at the base of the neck, IA put some aircraft gas tank sealer around the neck and fixed it. Where is yours cracked?

Re: annual time
Bob, would like to see a picture of the fuel tank crack is you get a chance. Here is a kit that Atlee Dodge sells for that. http://www.fadodge.com/filler-neck-repair-kit/

Re: annual time
I have not seen the crack, they finished my annual friday but did not put the plane back in my hanger. I really wanted to fly this weekend. all our snow is melted so our grasss strips are really sloppy. it probably better that I did not take it out, I would spend the whole next day cleaning it.

Re: annual time
Wow, the mechanic at my field I am sure would have put the plane back in my hangar if he finished the annual. Sorry he kept your plane, maybe he will discount your annual fee for keeping your plane, asking doesn't hurt.

Re: annual time
Tank was welded. They told me plane would be buttoned up Friday. i did not talk to them after that so maybe they found another problem? Maybe something came up unrelated to my plane. I will check with then tomorrow

Re: annual time
My 56 PA22 use to be 6853B, also close friends.
i once took a tank to a welder I had used previously, when I told them it was an airplane tank they refused to work on it due to liability. The second welder also asked what the tank was out of so I told them it was for a friend and thought it may be an old combine or tractor under restoration. The repair was beautiful. Moe
