Extended Flap Grab
I know there have been many mods for extending the manual flap handle to avoid the 'big lean' and going heads-down. I have shoulder restraints that I would like to use for safety (duh)... but like others on this site have noted, no can do without releasing the harness. So I tried this: at REI in the mountain climbing section, I found this very stout carbinar set-up that provides a stiff extension of nylon web material. The extension material is stiff/stout to stand up as shown, but still easily moved if accidentally bumped by a leg. Take a look. Its easy to reach the little button thingy as well when necessary. Test flew it and it works great at a cost of $12. Also probably breaks every FAR in the big fat book... I get that so pls don't go there. Its definitely an RBA (remove before annual) item. In the meantime, it works well for me and mine. This is a public service 'shortwing' announcement; you mileage may vary.
