    Default Vagabond website and Resource

Ran across this Vagabond website today. Some of the Vagabond News that we are missing along with lots of other useful information.

    What a hoot!
I do remember reading most of these when they came out new.
Big thanks to Steve, SJ and the rest for SWP.org.
Truly impressive the wealth of data here and all of the big hearts! that make up the Short Wing Pipers.org
Yet these old articles age great and thanks to Sparky for scanning.
It does show how much better we are today Vs the monthly small paperback newsletter.

    Can a 0-235 be put on a PA-17?

I saw a Vag at the Blakesburg AA fly-in one year with an O-235. It had two wing tanks and a full IFR panel. I asked the owner what it weighed and got an answer to the effect it didn’t weigh much more than a normal one.

My Wagabond is not full IFR, but has an O-235, wing tanks, wood prop, full electrical system, comm, ADS-B, etc - empty weight is 850 lb. That wouldn't work so well on a PA-17 with 1150 lb gross. The gross on my Wag is 1320 to stay within the LSA requirements (Wag Aero designed the airframe for 1450). At 1320 gross, I can fly a 200lb passenger with about 2/3 fuel.

Ok thanks for your insight, was having a hard time finding anything on it, now at least I know why. Sure would love to find the right project for my 0-235 candidate.

I own a 1950 PA-20, with logbooks and it deserves to get a re-birth........but, everything I have read/ heard is that PA-20-115 is not the right build combination.

I like the PA-16 or PA-18-105 idea.....but haven’t seen any of those come along, that aren’t gobbled up instantly, or that I can afford to buy as a project.

    I will keep hunting

    thanks again.
