    Default Sliding window replacement

    Hi all,

My 1950 Pacer has sliding windows on both sides. The right side plexiglass has always had a couple cracks, but one finally bit the dust. Has anyone replaced these? What's the process, and who has parts? It looks like Univair has replacements, but I'm not convinced they're exactly what I need. I've shared a photo of the crack below.

    Thanks for any insight!

I replaced mine a couple of years ago, i also replaced the tracks they slide in. Easy job, I traced the outline on a new piece of plexi that I picked up at home depot, and got new track from restorationspecialties.com

    Works great now!

I thought about putting in a sliding window with lexan, is plexiglass a better choice?

    Hi Forest,

What was your process to get the current windows out/new ones in?

The wing fairings over the windows have a small flange that helps hold the channel in. In addition there is usually several #4 pk screws thru the channel the window slides in to a steel U channel above the window channel.
Find those screws in that fuzzy channel and remove them and you can tilt the top of the channel and the the window glass out.

FYI: I did some checking around (Univair in particular) and they don't carry the right windows for the sliding windows. I guess I'm back to having someone/me cut plexi that matches the current windows!

Disregard. LP Aero Plastics makes left/right sliders for the PA20. $49/each.

I'd cut my own because I doubt LPs will fit without a lot of trimming.

Just coming from experience. Call them with you dimensions and check. Pacers didn't come with sliding right windows that I have ever seen and all the doors were custom to each frame.
