I tried to put a set of LP side windows in a PA18. They fit so bad I think I ended up making new ones myself.

i took my old Clipper windows tp a glass shop. They made new ones very inexpensively and they fit.

Just coming from experience. Call them with you dimensions and check. Pacers didn't come with sliding right windows that I have ever seen and all the doors were custom to each frame.
Makes sense. Thanks for the info, Steve! I'll do some investigating.

Can you legally put sliding windows in a 54 PA 20/22 if they don’t have them?

If you look at the definition of major and minor I think you will find it to be minor. I think it would be challenging to do on a covered fuselage. I have converted J3 and PA11 fuselages to the dual horizontal sliding windows like the Clipper, early Pacer and Super Cub instead of the single vertical up and down slider they came with that you lock with a thumb screw.

I have an early PA-22 (serial 347) that has sliding windows on both sides. I have logs to day 1 and see nothing about them being added. I assume that they are factory.

From looking at the fuselage drawings and the parts manual it looks like Piper went from the sliding window in 1952 on the Pacer and Tri-Pacer to the pop out front window in 1953. Looking at drawings 13462, 13928, 13049 and 13808.

The Pacer parts manual doesn't break down by serial number just year model. Wonder if yours was an early 53 and it was done at the factory before they changed over or someone changed it later.

Update on this thread for anyone interested:

I'm planning to work with LP Aero Plastics (http://www.lpaero.com/) to get new windows cut. I could probably work with a local company, but LP already knows what I'm talking about and does this daily. I believe it'll be around $50/window.

Thanks for all the tips in this thread.
