Default Door Latch for 1953 Tri Pacer

Hello. Can anyone direct me as to where I might be able to purchase a used or new door latch for my 1953 Tri Pacer? My door pops open on every take off and landing and does not seem to catch when shut. The latch mechanism inside the door has been messed up by someone in the past and there is even a coat hanger wire for the unlock knob. The door lock does not work either. Someone told me the "cabin door latch" in Wag-Areo, item # 1-2594 on page 43 would work. Is this correct? Thanks!

The door latch that Wag Aero sells only works on the Clipper. There are used latches out there but a lot of times it just needs a disassembling, little cleaning and lubrication. Here is a good thread on the subject.

Thanks for your help with this. I will review the material and try to repair mine. My wife will not ride in the airplane with me until I get it fixed!

This appears to be a Clipper door latch. The pictures I posted above are from a 53 which I believe is the same as the later models.

looked it up and fits a 1950 Pacer front and rear door. i believe it is the same latch in the Clipper as well although the part numbers are different.

That's why every seasoned pilot carries a variety of bungee cords in the cabin.
