Default I bought my first airplane!

Long story as they all are. But the skinny is my wife is amazing. We just bought a 54 pa22/20 160hp! As my wife says she is shiney-adjacent but solid bones and fabric has alot of life left. Has all the basic upgrades like sealed struts, Cleveland brakes and Scott 3200 tailwheel. I purchased hooker H harnesses and I want to hold off on VG's and such until I put a few hours on her. Sadly it'll be seeing a big of hangar flying first as I need to finish my PPL. Just the written and checkride left but life seems to keep getting in the way.

I have learned alot from this site and look forward to connecting with some of ya'll and getting to know this birdbetter and better. IMG_20180805_124621758.jpgIMG_20180805_124123313.jpgIMG_20180805_092249791.jpg

That looks like a nice bird....welcome to aircraft ownership!!
I'm certain you will enjoy those 160 HP up front. Make sure you get a solid checkout in that thing, as they are pretty squirrely on the ground.....mine had a tailwheel that was out of rig, and I ended up in the weeds on my first flight (saved it though.)
Although the VG's really help short field performance, I think they detract the looks of our airplanes....just my opinion.
That 160 and the right prop will get you in and out of most places.

    Have fun!

With Colorado's high density altitudes I thought the more hp wouldnt hurt. And then when I get back to AK in 1.5 years I'll be ready!

Good luck with your PPL and the ShortWing. As previously mentioned get a good checkout in it with an experienced ShortWing taildragger person. I'm also in agreement with the VG's, might help but look ugly.

Thanks guys! The vgs don't rely bother me on the looks. But maybe that's due to their performance gains. And I have a cfi that's knowledgable on these short wings looking forward to flying the wheel pants off this bird. (Wheel pants already removed)

VG's are a nice to have addition but, certainly not necessary. You've got lots to learn and a great plane to do it in. Good luck.

Very nice looking airplane. My Pacer was the first and only airplane I ever bought, that was 19 years ago. You will enjoy every flight in it.
