So when stitching an elevator which only requires 4 stitches, is it appropriate to use starter knots (square knot with two half hitches)? Or is there a way to use a seine knot for a single knot? Seems like all the directions I’ve seen show a seine knot being used for a series of knots on a wing for instance. Thanks!

The starter knot, the Poly-Fiber manual explains using the half hitches and locks on the first and last knot on a rib. I just tie individual knots with the locking half hitches on control surfaces.
