Default No elevator inspection plates/covers on Colt

Howdy, have a colt with no inspection covers/plates at the elevator bell crank in the tail, need to remove elevator, don't want to create a disaster, any tips on cutting the fabric and installing the inspection plates? Thanks!

How in the word did they install them? Can you post a picture? Only way I can think would be to slit a grommet and glue it on. After it has dried cut it out and then glue another one on the inside.

I'll send an image ASAP, it has AeroThane on the fabric. Not familiar with the PA-22 series yet to know what it is supposed to have on it, looked at Univairs online parts catalog and found the grommets and covers, how is this supposed to attach originally? Thanks!

Here are some documents. I would use the Stewart System glue because it is not solvent based and will not blister the paint like PolyTac does when the solvents out gas.

colt tail 002.jpgcolt tail 001.jpgOk, here's how the problem was dealt with, cut 2 little holes out to remove the lower bolt. Will put the grommets on and life will be good. The little colt is loved at her new home!

Looks like you you could put a simple patch over those till you have to pull the elevators.
