Question. About a 1954 Tri Pacer glare shield.
I am restoring a Tri Pacer and having a instrument panel blanket made for it. But right in the middle of the glare shield is a square hole with a screw bracket on each side under the hole for what ever was installed in the hole. My question is, was that for an ash tray or what ? Wish to make like it was in 1954. Can make the blanket with no hole and cover it up but thought someone might know the real story.

Yep, sounds like the hole Piper had the ashtray installed in.

Thought that was the only thing it could have been for. Any ideas where to find an ashtray that would fit ?
