Reno Air Races...
My wife and I are thinking about taking in the Reno air Races this year, and am wondering if there is something we need to see, do, or avoid.
If anyone has some pre planning tips that you like to pass along, that would be great.

Re: Reno Air Races...
Make arrangements for a place to stay early. Like any other event, traffic back to Reno can be really bad at the end of the day. I really enjoyed it the 12 years I attended.

Re: Reno Air Races...
Correct on reservations for place to stay.
Rental car prices are out of site for the week, not only reno cars but even carson city.
need to get reservations for cars early as well.

Re: Reno Air Races...
As I recall, the pit passes get progressively more expensive as the week goes on. Most of the planes that will race in the unlimited gold will be in the pit Friday and they'll be pulling wrenches on them so it's pretty cool to see. I been there all week, but I would recommend going on Thursday, maybe arrive Wednesday night. When I was there last, in 15, the unlimited gold was later on Sunday. Southwest flew out too early for me to see the race and get to the airport, so I stayed over until Monday. Don't count on quality food at the park! Some of this may have changed. Someone that has been there more recently should chime in. Luck - Dwain

Re: Reno Air Races...
I would recommend the pit pass. I have not been to Reno since 1996 when I crewed on Howard Pardue's Bearct and Sea Fury. To me the pits were a blast, lots of stuff going on if you like the mechanical side of this kind of stuff.

Re: Reno Air Races...
Forrest,
Thanks for posting this thread. Need general planning tips, too.
Has anyone camped in the Reno area for the races?
We camp around the nation with a travel trailer, would like to plan a Reno/Yosemite trip.

Re: Reno Air Races...
The Optimist club in Reno rents spots for camping trailers and motor coaches walking distance to the gate
