    Default Pacer Landing gears PA22/20

    Hi,

we have a Pa22/20 in repair, that sits on a narrow gear. In fact the gear is so narrow, that I wonder if it is correct. The track width measured from tire centers is only 65 1/2 inches, with the hydrosorbs fully compressed. I would be interested, if anyone flying the narrow gear has a similar width?
And maybe someone with a wide gear can also post his measurement.
Are there different hydrosorb lengths in use on stock shortwing Pipers?

    thank you for checking, Leif

Just measured the wide Univair gear in the shop... 80.5 inches..
Hydrosorbs are all the same... Some early PA-20's only had 1 cord and the later ones have 2 cords but the units themselves are the same size, just different ears to hold the cords on.

There should be no 22/20s with narrow gear.
The STC calls for the wide gear, I believe.
The original conversion sold the wide gear and specified them IIRC.
These landing gear might be cobbled together PA-22 gear as narrow gear are relatively hard to come by even years ago.

Hi, I have a 51 Pacer with narrow gear, Bodell wheels and brakes, 6.00 /6 tires.
Center to center on tires was 67 inches.
Attempting to attach pix, hope it works.
