Pick two trees, close together and go between them. Lucky is right.

    The report said 'minor damage'?

    Hi,

I wonder if the pilot was flying from the right seat or went over the passenger to get out first.

I must have missed where it said who was pilot and who was passenger or Jim has some info that isn’t in the report.

Granted, the owner is male and a commercial pilot but that doesn’t necessarily mean he was in the airplane. I let others fly my planes.

    Piper PA22-150, N5939D:
The male pilot managed to free himself from the wreckage before first responders arrived. Firefighters stabilized the aircraft, which was hanging in some trees, before extracting the female passenger.
Assuming the report tagged Pilot/Passenger correct.

Since the article said it was dangling from the trees and the firefighters had to secure it before getting the passenger out, maybe the pilot decided to get out first to head for help. Based on the photos the plane wasn't very high in the trees but those were probably taken after the fact and it might have already been lowered down.

I stand corrected. I didn’t see the second report on the page when I looked at it the first time.
