I suggest a long cross country to build that time but to really lock in that Alaska time take that cross country to ALASKA and around it. Stop at every airport and talk to everyone you can find. I suspect you will find a job before you finish your 500 hours.

We flew a 90 hp Super Cub up several years ago, 45 hours of flying, one way.

This is definitely something I had in mind! I plan on getting the multi-engine add-on in Alaska, as I've heard that having "Alaska time" on your resume is a big plus when looking for jobs there.
