    Unhappy Refurbish Aileron/Flap Hinge

Check it out!!!!!!!!!!! Good deal or not. Is there a better way?

Sep-Oct 09 issue of SWP News Page 5 has a company that has designed a kit for sale to refurbish Flap and Aileron hinges that are pretty worn. It says using a slightly oversized custom reamer with bushings supplied in the kit along with ordinary hand tools, a worn hibnge can be eaisly repaired. STC/PMA and 2 hinges are $139.00.

Yes there is a thread started on the subject.http://www.shortwingpipers.org/forum...hlight=Andrews The gentleman's name is Bob Andrews. I spoke with him about the STC. Great to have an approved method to repair the flap and ailerons without having to uncover them. I need to proceed with my STC project for repair of the flap/aileron hinge blocks on the wings. I see a lot of these that are worn.

My Dad had an alignment tool made to drill the aluminum block and then to ream it and install an oilite bushing. Not yet approved.

    Default bushing for control surfaces

Where can I find the bushing stock for the control surfaces. I looked at WagAero and Univair with no luck. Next stop is probably McMaster and Carr.

Univair sells the bronze bushings for the rudder and elevators. McMaster Carr doesn't have the correct sizes.
