About as good as any other compass surrounded by metal. Been a long time but I believe
I found a spec that I could meet.

image4.jpgThis is a photo of a set yokes in a pa 22/20 that i was researching prior to purchasing my current plane. The owner said the modification had been done prior to his ownership. The original yokes had been cut, rounded, and polished; he had installed the push-to-talk switch from a button he'd purchased at radio shack. I did an extensive reading of the aircraft's paperwork and didn't find anything concerning the modification. Never flew the plane so I don't know about the view of the panel, but the yokes look pretty slick...

N5731D has the same yokes. I'm the third owner of the aircraft. The previous owner said they came with the plane. I really enjoy them. I'd say they are as slick as the look.

Explain to me how that is legal!!! Seems like that would be a change to Aircraft Controls.
I don't have a problem with the stock yokes. The Howard DGA i flew back from WA also had the big round yokes. I found them to be quite comfortable. I guess I just don't like modern stuff.

I have no idea legality wise
The most recent one I saw was probably done in the 70s.
Now, if you felt you needed to get better viz, Eddie Trimmer has that yoke that looks like a stick and it is legal.

The pacer that I owned had the yoke cut and bent with the PTT cable tied to the horn on the pilots side. In the paperwork, there was some detailed drawings and an approved 337. when I go back over to the shop I'll see if I can find a copy of the paperwork and post it. - Dwain
