The FBO I took flying lessons from years ago had a cat named Magneto. I don't know why, but that has always amused me no end. Also, there was an aviation parts and repair shop on the field and the mechanic there kept a [tom]cat named Balls, whose job was to keep the mouse population under control.
This is not strictly a pet but a regular visitor to my younger brother's back yard. He lives on the West Australian coast near Ningaloo reef (whale shark territory) and these huge goannas grow up to 6 or 7 feet long. They had five or so around the local caravan park but had to "cull" them after one got sick of an American tourist's little fluffy white dog yapping at it, so it ate it! (I kid you not) and a Japanese backpacker had one crawl into her tent while she was sleeping.
Not a good photo as it was taken on a phone but this fella is about 6 feet long.
