    Pa-22 stc sa3-709

I need any info I can find on this STC. It is owned by Richard E. Lloyd. It is not an orphaned STC. Mr. Lloyd is deceased.
It is for removing the interconnect between the rudders and the ailerons for a PA-22 135 HP. The TCDS has the info for the alteration for the 150 and 160 HP but not the 135HP.
In the old days, we just cut the cables and forgot about it. Today, might not be a good idea.
    Thanks.

    BrnBear,

I do not have any info on that STC.
I do have a comment on orphaned STC's and the FAA database. We have an STC for a skylight installation in all of the PA-22, 20, 16, 15 and 17 airplanes. Originally, we had 2 STC numbers, one for the 20's and one for the 22's. When I updated the STC a couple of years ago, I listed all of the models under an AML and used just one of the STC numbers and shelved the other one. In my mind, the one STC number is now "orphaned" because I no longer issue it. I talked to the FAA and asked that that number be removed from the database. They replied that it is public domain and it can not be removed. It is no big deal, but that tells me that there is a possibility of several STC's listed in the FAA database that are no longer supported and may be impossible to get any information on.

Your best bet with the STC that you are after is to write a letter to the address listed on the database and hope for an answer from the relative's of the deceased Mr. Lloyd.
Another possibility is to go for field approval based on the TCDS of the other models.

    Good luck in your search.

    Brian.

I have not seen any data on that STC but will keep my eye out. I have seen those turnbuckles really, really loose.
