    Default Wheel Pants Removal

O.K., I didn't want to hijack one of the other wheel pants threads. If the Mods think this belongs there please move it or tell me and I'll try to move it. I have a '60 PA22/20. I need to remove the wheel pants because I am going to start doing some grass strip work and I don't want to mess them up. I have looked at the drawing and tips/techs cds but I still have some questions. My first is: Can I remove these or do I have to get an A&P to do it? Second: Do I have to remove the wheel and or brakes to get them off. Any and all help is appreciated. - Dwain

    1. Fairing removal does not require an A or A & P.

HOWEVER; it DOES require a Wight & Balance update.

    I generally address that by having 2 versions of the W & B; "Fairings -ON " & " Fairings -OFF" .

    I've seen DPE's cancel a Flight Test when the aircraft & W & B did not agree.

    2. You should not have to remove wheels or brakes.
