Wakening an old post, but I’d like to replace all my lights with led. Thought I’d start with the taxi light since it draws a lot of amps at idle, and landing light while I’m in there. I am looking at aero led. Any tips or recommendations?

They are super bright and draw next to nothing. I have installed quite a few of them. There are several threads on landing and taxi lights with lots of info. Google this:

Do you have a generator? Or an alternator?

You will really appreciate the change in load on your generator. I have a generator that struggled on landing and taxi with the old lights but barely notices the draw from LEDs

Aeroleds are awesome. I have four and in landing position they draw less amps than the original pair of 4509 bulbs while producing ten times the light. Plus the built-in wig wag is super cool.

I assume you have the wig wag on the taxi light. Is it controlable or always on?

Are they drop in no modifications? I know they may need aproval and all, any other concerns. I've tried leds on things in the past and quality varies a lot.

They drop right in. I have wig-wag on pairs, both landing and taxi lights. Separate switch for wig-wag, re-used the existing three position switch, down for taxi (two lights), up for landing (all four). Wig-wag switch overrides other switch, if it is on all you get is wig-wag regardless of other switch position. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zllhM90Xjgo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjvifR-ygD4
