I met a met a old WW2 P-38 and P-51 pilot that lost his right arm and shoulder to cancer right after the war.
About mid 50's he decided he wanted to fly again, his first plane was a Globe Swift, then a C-180 and finally a
PA-24 comanche. He did just fine till he quit at age late 70's.

Adding a impulse coupled mag on the right side also means adding two new studs, a new spacer and a new drive gear. Not to mention reworking the wiring at the switch. If you can source the parts other than lycoming along with a new mag I would guess over a grand to upgrade. If using left mag only on start works why add the cost and weight?

One of those while I'm at it things. Didn't cost much...had an extra impulse coupler. Sent it in with a couple junk cores....Aircraft magneto service set me up for less than ACS sell the bendix mags/kit. Used spacer I machined to obtain proper gear alignment. Bought a couple studs... new ignition switch along with a complete rewire....

Have seen the dual impulse on Lycoming powered float planes.
