Re: RH Tank Leak
Thought I'd add on to this thread rather than start a new one...
Steve (and others): after scraping off all the reddish-colored goop that had been applied around the base of the filler tube on my left tank, I discovered a pinhole (at tip of small screwdriver). Looking for recommendations as to how this might be repaired. More goop?
Thanks, Walt

Re: RH Tank Leak
For a permanent repair, I would say the tank needs to be removed, purged, and welded. For a temp fix, that would last for a long time, PRC fuel tank sealant. http://m.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/...BoCKdgQAvD_BwE

Re: RH Tank Leak
Looks like it corroded out. From the look of that filler neck I would probably use the repair neck from Atlee Dodge.

Re: RH Tank Leak
Thanks, and hi, guys. Yep, got my A&P back on the job...
I was told by a couple of people with a good deal of experience in welding aluminum that welding would not be a viable option, as far as patching just that pinhole. Steve, I just looked at the Atlee Dodge filler neck repair kit; I take it that goes on the outside/top of the tank, after cutting away the old one...? I'll show that part to my A&P.
BTW, tank was washed out with Chemtool B-12 stuff, and has been empty for almost 2 years now. (This is the tank that had been replaced "with a serviceable unit" back in 1986....)

Also the cessna screw with viton gasket are ok??
Sorry for the question but I must order it from Italy and it's a pity if they aren't suitable!!
I must also check if the leak could be from the central signal screw.
Thank you very much.
Alex.
