My Tri Pacer, 1959 150hp, has the original (or possibly rebuilt) generator and since I am a day, VFR flyer it suits me just fine. I notice there are generators of greater amperage applicable to the O-320 although I do not know if they could be mounted on a PA22-150. This from the Lycoming Service Instruction 1154, 9 April 2018. Is it possible to change up to a 35A or 50A generator rather than going through the installation hassle for an alternator? I realize it would still be a generator and not charge below about 1700 rpm. Anyone out there ever done this?
    Thanks,

I replaced the 12 amp generator on my Clipper with a 20 amp and referenced that SI.

Just make sure the generator wiring will be adequate for the increased amp output.
