Thank you for your interest in our STC Kit. The Kit includes all the necessary parts, Installation instructions, Drawings, Flight Manual Supplement, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and STC with use authorization.
The trim works by relocating the rudder pedal return springs, increasing their size and controlling the tension on them by a trim wheel located under the panel on the control column guide tube.
For those long trips,I think it would be very handy!!!
HI Peter, The Rudder Trim from Steve's Aircraft was required / included in my 180 Pacer (with C/S Prop) STC from Steve's Aircraft and I really like it. It was required in the 180 mod due to large P-Factor when slow & full power / fine pitch situations. However, it is also cool when just in cruise flight to trim the rudder and rest your foot!! The kit is very complete and was not too difficult to install. Do you have any specific questions?
Dad developed the rudder trim system sometime in the 80's. Dad came up with the idea after our first trip to Alaska without it. Got tired of holding his foot on the rudder during those long legs up through Canada. Its a pretty simple setup by adding a trim wheel under the panel mounted on the guide tube and installing a couple of springs and cable system routed to the front of the rudder bar. Our current kits include all the parts for installation. I am working on changing it a bit though. Going to up the cable size from 1/16 to 3/32 and I will be changing some of the brackets to accept a slightly larger pulley with bearings.
I will be installing a system in Travis's (Bender) aircraft that I am recovering the fuselage on right now. Will be posting pictures of that on my FaceBook page.
It is required for our engine STC in order to pass the directional stability flight testing. On that version there is a second painted trim mark on the wheel for take off position.
Any other questions post them here and I will try to answer them as best as I can.
Ah, yes, I remember now. "Peter, look over there". PUSH & BEND........fixed
It was classic. I'm sure I'll get to make some tweaks when I get my wings back on. Before disassembly my airplane was right wing heavy and either my butt, the T/C or the tail was a little out. I didn't fly it enough to know which! Of course I had a slightly munched left aileron which might have been part of the issue. IMG_0292.jpg

Ahhh yes, Im putting this rudder trim system on the top of the Batplanes wish list! I often fly with full left tank and I'm not getting any lighter these days. So with the full left tank and myself over gross my right leg gets a bit cramped on the long ones.
