    Default Andy's Pacer restoration thread...

As some may know, Andy Andersen dropped off his Pacer for a complete tear down and recover in my shop... After a couple hang ups with other customers, I finally pulled her in to start the tear down today... First thing... Drain the fuel... Will be pulling the control surfaces today...

    SB 819 required, never done
    Skylite
Trimmer fuel line STC with maule valve
    New panel (early model)
    whelen orion LED nav/strobes
    Install landing lights fixture
    Garmin 300XL GPS comm

Not a mod but new firewall and boot cowl
There will be enough work correcting things from previous restore to keep busy

I installed Grove Wheel and Brakes prior to delivery.

And why don't I do this myself, better half knows she won't see me for several years so.....
and never know, might not live long enough to finish it.

Andy you have a very well known and recognizably unique paint scheme on your Pacer. What's the plan for the new look ?

Brian and Andy....I have a new panel if interested. Its a blank from the Cub Doctor. Has the smaller radius at the corners... Original boot cowl will not fit... Six pack can be centered over the yoke.

    Today's progress...

All control surfaces off the airplane....

Ok Piper peeps.... What is missing in this picture... ???

Removing fabric... One stab was covered in PolyFiber... Everything else in Ceconite....

Tail surfaces are in nice shape... Just a little surface corrosion here and there...

Right flap... Typical Piper wrinkle outboard of the inner hinge.. Repairable..

Left flap... This one is real bad... Bad enough damage to think about finding one in better shape..

Left flap spar is bent slightly...

Trailing edge left flap... Needs replacing also...

    Ailerons are nice...

Yep... No bolt installed... That tube is stuck good though, going to require some heat to get it out..
