I see there is Widell Industries that has pneuport grinder. Similar, but their web site doesn’t have prices.

That is funny because the original builder of the Aero Grinder was in Port Richey, FL as well. He is now in Jackson, MS.

One thing I encounter fairly often on Lycomings is cheap “plain” AN nuts on the exhaust studs instead of the true Lycoming high temp exhaust nut. The AN nuts always seem to corrode and sieze on the stud if they are left on for very long. Big Continental engines use to give me the most grief though. Other mechs (non-A&P) had been using air tools to install the exhaust nuts which over torqued them frequently causing them to gall and break the studs when they siezed during removal.

You can get factory Lycoming exhaust nuts STD-1410 and studs from Aircraft Spruce which are stainless although they are not magnetic.

Steve, since the exhaust port wasn’t eroded. Did you still clean up the exhaust port surface with anything?

No, I have used a razor blade to clean up the surface.
