ADSB-In on the cheap!

This may have been posted before. I was at the airport today, and one of the guys there had a really slick, homemade, setup for ADSB-In broadcast to his IPAD. He also had a dual micro usb rechargeable power supply to power the device and his tablet at the same time. Basically it's the same as a Stratus I think, as it broadcasts ADSB over wifi to the tablet or phone and gives you traffic and weather. Anyway here is the link.

I ordered the stuff to make one and my cost was $110, but I'm going to use a dual high power USB outlet plugged into the cigar lighter socket to power the device and my tablet instead of an external battery.

I love mine, use it every time I fly! Here is mine with the battery attached (so I can throw it on the hat shelf in the back.)

Sweet Jim! What type of antennas are those? I love the portable setup! Are you using two antennas to view high altitude and low altitude traffic? thanks,

Tony, yes I have 1090 and 978 so I get all the ES traffic plus the weather on UAT. I bought those from Digi-key, they are 916 Mhz which is close enough based on the conversations on the Reddit page. The adapters were off of Amazon, let me see if I can find the links.

Oh, the battery is the Kmashi they spec'd in the original build, mine has worked very well.

There might be something cheaper that works, I saw these on the thread and ordered them. The only thing I haven't fixed yet is the fact that the connectors on the SDRs are loose enough that the antennas spin around, that is why the rubber band is wrapped around them. I need to come up with a more permanent case, right now they are just stuck together with velcro.

I didn't for two reasons (so far), first I have an XGPS 150 that works well via Bluetooth and second I heard that the RY835AI is very slow to lock on to satellites. If you are using a different module I would also be interested in the link.
