Going from memory champion plugs get hotter with lower numbers. I use the 37's in my O200 because they are shorter and didn't have to put bumps in my cowl.

Lower the number, colder the plug. 37 runs cooler than 40. Hotter plug more apt to burn off contaminants. But the BY (massive electrode, extended) plug has the electrode more into the combustion chamber where the flame front should help keep deposits from forming.

You are right, I should have looked it up. It's NGKs the lower the hotter.

Ya that got me too when I first got into aviation. As a kid we'd run A7's in the old 12.3hp Rotax and go to the A6's when it got colder to help it from over fouling the plug.

My new plugs arrived will try the Tempest UREM37BY. Installed tonight. If the weather is nice will go for a flight tommorow.

Let us know what you think. I now have 65 hours on mine since Thanksgiving, still as smooth as ever!

I'm running the same plugs, very happy with them. Probably 100 or so hours on them.

Installed and tested them and to be really honest just noticed little more power on the high end (25 rpm) as for idle it was all the same smoothness'
