Goodyear advertises these tires as tubless. I've install them in the past and can't see how the split rim type wheel will hold air. Has anyuthing changed with this tire?

"You can only tie the record for flying low."
Not to my knowledge.
I thought I heard of folks running an adaptor kit on the Grove or Cleveland split wheels (I think it had a big O-ring) to allow tubeless ops.
Matco makes wheels for tubeless applications, but I don’t think they have any STCs. Might have to get an FA.
Roby Grove http://www.groveaircraft.com/ made a 10" o'ringed wheel but not sure about the 6".

Beringer also makes wheels for tubeless tires: https://www.beringer-aero.com/en/beringer
They are STC'd on the PA-18, so it might be possible to get a field approval for them. Lots of $$$, though

In the past I used an 8.50 x 6 tube for Goodyear 26 inch tires.

I use the 8.50 X 6 tube on Cleveland 6 hole wheels with the 26” Goodyear Blimp/Tundra tires on my C180.
They really work well on our combination of asphalt runways, dirt roads and rough, rocky off airport landings in far West Texas. Last longer than other softer bush wheels for me.
I agree, I've on my third set of 29 inch Bushwheels, I really like them but, I'm based on an airport with a paved runway. Since I have two sets of wheels, I'm thinking of getting Goodyear tires for my winter flying. I was confused when they advertised them as tubeless tires.

Yes sir. I went from the ABI bushwheels (which I loved) to the Goodyear’s solely because they last on asphalt and rough, abrasive terrain better than the bushwheels. They don’t land and “feel” as good, but they last longer for me.
