Re: Control Bungee springs and cables
I can state by fact that the elevator control bungees (spring) system can be installed through the access holes on a covered and flying airplane.
required: patience and persistence ;-)

What does this tool look like? can you provide a source?

Just do an internet search for exhaust spring tool. It will show up the plethora of different styles from the hook with a handle to the ones that look like a screwdriver with a slot cut into the flat blade.

Bryan,
Stop by my hangar P2. I've got multiple problems. Your input would be appreciated. As I worked to sort out the control issues the trim indicator failed with a bang. Interestingly the control feel improved with the indicator cable loose.

Aflyer - Thanks. Will do. Actually did and understand how tool works. I'm figuring that to replace the springs I first have to relieve the spring tension on both upper and lower and then break the connection at the jack screw Clovis/shackle. Am I going wrong on this?

Control Bungee springs and cables
I did not need any tool to install. Did need an extra body to either hold the elevator up or down depending upon which spring connection being made and have set the trim to one extreme or another
Will stop by Jerry

Interesting, the trim indicator consists of a small spring a little larger than a ball point pin a print and a piece of music wire.

What was the cause for replacement. Mine seem to be factory original and have not failed other than feeling weak in neutral setting. Really don't want to change them out unless absolutely necessary.
